The cover of the June 2, 2008 issue of BusinesWeek caught my eye the other day. It said, "Beyond Blogs, what business needs to know." I figured I needed all the info on blogs I could get, so I went to the article. BusinessWeek first wrote about blogs in 2005. Even though 3 years have past, they still get enough hits on the article to make it #1 in a google search. They point out that "...anyone with an Internet connection could be a global publisher." Hey, I guess that means me, too! Regular worker bees are commenting on their industry and building networks through blogs.
Zip to the present. Blogs are still here and gaining ground. But so are wikis, and social networks such as Facebook and Twitter. Some have such a following, they become a commodity. Someone actually put their Twitter account up for sale on eBay. It received bids up to $500 before the seller took it off the market. Clever ploy - his following has increased drastically.
So, this seems to say that blogs and their ilk are here to stay. I better catch up soon, or I'll be left behind.
