Web 2.0 Musings

Web 2.0 is like teaching an old dog new tricks. This dog is comfortable with the tricks she has. They have served her well for many years. These exercises have tempted me to see what’s out there. In time, and with enough practice, I could learn to like web 2.0. Of course, by then it will be Web 3.0. (or 5.0) It’s nice to know what’s out there, and get to feeling more comfortable with it. I feel like I just got a new toy, but I have to spend a couple of hours reading the instructions before I can use it.

I read about Library 3.0. As I read the speculative article,” To a Temporary Place in Time,” I was reminded of the futurists that said we would all be driving flying cars and living on the moon by now. Some days it’s all I can do to keep up with what’s out there, let alone prepare for what might come next. I guess I was just experiencing a little future shock. It was also interesting that Library 4.0 came full circle, with the comfy chairs and quiet atmosphere we seem to be getting away from now. Everything comes back in style eventually!
